A country with a strong distillation legacy and deep ties to British naval history. Traditionally, before having its own distillery, rum shops would import bulk rum and blend to sell to its consumers. Several of these shop owners got together to start their own distillery in 1932. The distillery has a unique, all copper column still, customised on site to integrate the original Savalle Column. The still produces flavoursome rums which are consumed unaged or left to rest in oak barrels. Antigua rums are probably the most approachable rums in the world and are extremely palatable. Antigua's dry climate helps to age rums quicker than many regions, and even other Caribbean countries.
